이 삶 곧 사람이 헛된 삶의 모든 날을 그림자처럼 보내는 삶 속에서 사람에게 무엇이 좋은지 누가 알리요? 해 아래에서 사람의 뒤를 따라 무슨 일이 있을지 누가 능히 그에게 고하리요?

헛된 생명의 모든 날을 그림자 같이 보내는 일평생에 사람에게 무엇이 낙인지를 누가 알며 그 후에 해 아래에서 무슨 일이 있을 것을 누가 능히 그에게 고하리요?

For who knoweth what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?

For who knows what is good for a man in life, during the few and meaningless days he passes through like a shadow? Who can tell him what will happen under the sun after he is gone?
